The 2015 Season is Beginning – On Tuesday, April 14, at 7 p.m. at the WBHS museum (8966 Rts. 5 and 20), we’ll start the season with a presentation on cabin-building and a short meeting. Members, guests, and the general public are all welcome. Marty Dodge will share his Alaskan adventure building a small cabin using only chainsaws and hewing axes. Mr. Dodge is a retired professor of environmental conservation at Finger Lakes Community College and served as coach of FLCC’s celebrated Woodsmen for three decades, leading both men’s and women’s teams to many championships. Please join us on April 14 and stay for refreshments afterward! Those wishing to join the Historical Society may also do so at this time.
Open nights at the Museum – Every Monday from 6 p.m. until dusk, beginning April 13 weather permitting. Volunteer staffing always welcome (for an evening, a month, or whatever works for you).
Also Save this Date! Saturday, May 2, at 12:30 p.m. West Bloomfield’s Pioneer Cemetery will be the setting for a special ceremony honoring Revolutionary War veterans, including the fifers and drummers who were so much a part of the war effort. Because two of these musicians are interred in West and East Bloomfield cemeteries, Percussion Rochester has chosen to include both in their weekend program. The ceremony will include a remembrance and roll call, music, and narration describing the camp life of drummer boys and fifers. (East Bloomfield’s ceremony is at 10 a.m.)
